The Importance of High Quality Fall Protection Anchorage Points
Keeping Employees safe while working from heights, with RUD Fall Protection Anchorage Points
According to OSHA falls from heights are the most common cause of work related injuries and fatalities. Fall protection in the construction industry, is the number one OSHA violation (29 CFR 1926.501). A few years ago both the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have been partnering with state and federal government agencies, professional organizations, trade associations, labor organizations, and private industries to target construction contractors, construction supervisors, and workers to reduce the number of falls, fall-related injuries, and fall-related fatalities among construction workers.
OSHA requires that fall protection be provided at elevations of four feet in general industry workplaces, five feet in shipyards, six feet in the construction industry and eight feet in long-shoring operations. In addition, OSHA requires that fall protection be provided when working over dangerous equipment and machinery, regardless of the fall distance. Source: https://www.osha.gov/SLTC/fallprotection
As a leading manufacturer and supplier of over 500 different tested and certified lifting/lashing points, RUD take the safety of their products very seriously and is continually innovating and developing their products to meet the highest safety standards.
Safety is imperative when working at heights and across potentially hazardous working environments. RUD PSA fall protection anchorage points provide an ultimate safety factor by permanently attaching to structures where frequent fall protection is required. They are used across a wide range of industries when working at height from; bridge construction, construction, wind tower installation, and tower maintenance to name a few.
The RUD fall protection anchorage point range consists of the PSA-VRS STAR-POINT and the stainless steel version, the PSA-INOX-STAR. Although the design of these anchorage points were derived from the lifting points products, the PSA’s are designed and rated as fixing points, which means that they can be used as personnel protection equipment.
RUD’s Fall Protection Anchorage Points have been certified successfully by the Employers Liability Insurance Association, the Building Industry (BG Bau), as well as OSHA 1926.502. The components correspond to the European Directive for “personnel protection equipment” (89/686/EWG) and are marked with the CE-Stamp as well as with the number of person (1 or 2 persons) which can be carried. The PSA’s and the PSA-INOX-STAR meet the requirements of: DIN 795; 1996/A1:2100, DIN EN 50308:2005/03 chapter 4.5 and OSHA 1926.502:2001/01 Paragraph (d) (15), and AS/NZS 1891.4:2099 (M 16 only). The dynamic fall test carried out with 150 kg (required is 100kg), and the proof load, 22.2 kN/person exceeds the European Standard.
The INOX-STAR RUD lifting point offers many distinctive features to the user, and it offers an impressive 50% higher working load limit than the standard type, or DIN eye bolt and can be turned and adjusted to any load direction 360°. The INOX star is 100% crack detected and a high resistance to corrosion.
The PSA STARPOINT is also used as an anchor point for personal protective equipment acc. to DIN EN 795. It offers a safety factor of 4:1, made from forged material 1.6541, is high tensile quenched and tempered and 100% electromagnetic crack inspected according to En 1677-1.
RUD is continually innovating and developing their extensive product range to stay at the forefront of the meeting and exceeding the demands of today’s workplace safety requirements. Ensure your workers’ safety when working at heights, with RUD’s Fall Protection Equipment.
